Rebuilding a real
platform from scratch
My Rotten Tomatoes started as a team project at Epitech Coding Academy: rebuild, from scratch, the mechanics of a real movie review platform. Not a mockup: a working application, with real users, a real database and a real authentication flow.
On the user side, the app lets people browse a movie catalog with search and filters by genre, year and director, rate each film out of 10, leave comments and build a favorites list. Every account goes through sign-up with email verification and a JWT-secured login.

On the back-office side, I built a full admin panel: importing movies directly from the TMDB API with all their metadata (cast, budget, revenue, posters), managing users (roles, status), and a KPI dashboard aggregating stats on the most popular genres and the films preferred by each age group.
Technically, the project runs on Next.js 16 and React 19 on the front end, Prisma and PostgreSQL on the data side, with Prisma Accelerate for connection pooling. The API is documented with Swagger/OpenAPI, endpoint by endpoint (auth, movies, comments, ratings, favorites, admin), so it stays testable and readable for the whole team.
